33 year old Musician from Timișoara, Romania Sebastian Spanache is a young Romanian jazz pianist and composer, born in Timișoara, Romania. He began playing the piano at the age of five and later pursued jazz studies at the National College of Arts “Ion Vidu” in Timișoara. At 14, he founded his first jazz/funk ensemble, performing extensively across Romania and earning early recognition for his talent. As he matured, Spanache developed a distinctive style, blending contemporary jazz with Latin rhythms, funk, and improvisational elements, while also composing for student and professional ensembles.

In 2023, he released his solo album UPAMERCADO, inspired by his travels throughout Latin America from 2017 to 2020. The album was recorded in Timișoara and supported by a creative grant from the National Cultural Program Timișoara – European Capital of Culture 2023. The project fuses samba, bossa nova, tango, and improvisational jazz, creating a unique and authentic musical voice.

Spanache is also the leader of the Sebastian Spanache Trio, founded in 2011 in Timișoara. The trio is renowned for its innovative compositions and improvisations in unconventional time signatures, performing at numerous festivals in Romania and abroad. They have received awards such as “Best Album” at the Sounds 2014 festival, the Johnny Răducanu Trophy in Brăila (2013), and “Band of the Year” at the Banat Jazz Awards (2017).

Beyond his solo and trio projects, Spanache is actively involved in music education and initiatives to support young jazz musicians in Romania. His performances and compositions have contributed to the vibrancy of the Romanian jazz scene, bringing contemporary jazz to wider audiences and inspiring the next generation of musicians.
